Cotswold District Council - Draft Local Plan

posted 28 Jun 2016, 08:35 by Robert Cowley

Cotswold District Council has prepared a Local Plan which it proposes to submit to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. The Local Plan relates to the whole District and provides a strategy for delivering growth for Cotswold District up to 2031. The document provides the vision, objectives, strategic policies, development management policies and site specific allocations for delivering new homes, jobs, services, facilities and infrastructure.

Cotswold District Council considers that the Submission Draft Local Plan represents the most appropriate and sound strategy to guide development in the District up to 2031. Representations made on the Submission Draft Local Plan will be forwarded, along with the Submission Local Plan itself and other supporting evidence, to the Planning Inspectorate who will appoint an inspector to undertake an examination to test the 'soundness' and legal compliance of the Plan. This means checking that the Council has properly observed all legal and national planning policy requirements. To assist the Inspector, representations made at this stage should be focused on:

  • whether you consider the Local Plan to be sound;
  • what change(s) you are seeking; and why it would help to make the Local Plan sound.

To assist the consultation process, public drop-in events will be held on:

  • Wednesday 6 July from 2pm to 6.30pm at Moreton Area Centre, High Street, Moreton in Marsh.
  • Thursday 7 July from 2pm to 6.30pm at the Committee Rooms, Council Offices, Trinity Road, Cirencester.

Further supporting evidence documents, including the Statement of Representations Procedure and the Statement of Availability for Inspection, are available to view on the Council’s website at
