Gladman proposal for development on land at Berkeley Close

posted 18 May 2016, 03:19 by Robert Cowley

The part of the field behind Berkeley Close (south of Ann Edwards School) proposed by Gladman for a housing development was considered two years ago, as part of Cotswold District Council’s Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA).  It is known as SHLAA site SC_13A.   At that time the Parish Council assisted CDC by conducting a comprehensive public consultation exercise.  CDC then decided that SC_13A was unsuitable for development, primarily due to the fact that the only access to SC_13A is through the narrow streets of The Leaze and Berkeley Close.  Other issues, such as flood risk, were acknowledged.  It is also outside the recognised development boundary for South Cerney.  Moreover, SC_13A was assessed as a potential site for just 64 homes.  Since then, other housing sites elsewhere in Cotswold District have come forward.

The Parish Council will be engaging with Gladman to emphasis these issues, and will report further.  In the meantime, please email with any comments that you would like to add at this stage.
