They can give you valuable seconds in which to escape from a fire at home. They can literally mean the difference between life and death. If you would like smoke alarms fitted in your home but you cannot do the work yourself, a free service exists which will install them for you. Please call 0800 180 41 40 to arrange your FREE Home Fire Safety Check. Our staff will also install FREE smoke alarms where necessary. If you don't think you require this service consider if you know anyone who would. Let them know about this important service particularly if they have anyone in their homes who are very young or elderly. CLLR PETER CLARKE RESIGNS Cllr Peter Clarke (CDC) has resigned due to ill health. The Parish Council wishes Cllr Clarke well and hopes mat he will recover from his illness. An election has been requested and if contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, 17th September 2009. VILLAGE AGENT Parish Councillors had an informative meeting with Sue Black, the Village Agent for this area. Village Agents support people aged 50+ living in rural areas of Gloucestershire, bridging the gap between the local community and the statutory or voluntary organisations able to offer help or support. COTSWOLD COUNTRY PARK At its last meeting the Parish Council voted unanimously to support Ashton Keynes and Somerford Keynes Parish Councils in their endeavours to add the permissive paths in and around the Cotswold Country Park (aka Keynes Country Park) to the PROW maps as laid out in the Definitive Maps of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
