Bledisloe Cup
South Cerney has been named winners of the Bledisloe Cup for the Best Kept Village in
Gloucestershire for the Large Village category. A presentation will be made to the village
on Saturday 22 September.
Youth Action Day
A Youth Action Day will be held in the Village Hall and Wesley Rooms on Sunday 30
September from 10.30am to 3.30pm. It is aimed to tease out of the young people what they
want from a particular service or agency, what their concerns are and what ideas they have
to improve things. The workshops will last until 1pm when lunch will be available.
New Grant for Insulation and Heating
CDC are promoting a new grant scheme for insulation and heating measures. It provides
funding up to £5,000 for measures that reduces fuel bills and help keep homes warmer in
winter. Measures available include cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, draught
proofing, hot water tank jackets, thermostatic radiator valves, reflecting radiator panels
and other heating improvements. To be eligible for a grant applicants must be receiving

Robert Franklin Way Playing Field
Local residents are invited to join a Sub Committee of the Parish Council to help progress
the re-equipping of the playing field. If you are interested please contact Cllr Nicholas

Flood Prevention
Cllr Harris will attend a meeting to be held at Cotswold District Council offices on 28
September to appraise the progress of the various agencies involved in flood prevention.
Millennium Park
The Environment Agency has raised some objections to the plans submitted by the Parish
Council on the design of the Millennium Park. In the circumstances it has been decided to
defer the application until these objections have been resolved.
Recycling Banks at Cotswold Hoburne
Recycling bins for the collection of paper, bottles and cans are now available for public
use at Cotswold Hoburne.
Disabled Access
An application has been made by the Parish Council to Cotswold District Council for grant
aid to construct a ramped access to the Upper Up playing fields opposite the entrance to
the Langet. The application will be considered by Committee on 17 September and if agreed
will be presented to a panel on 27 September for ratification. |
