Flood Risk

posted 12 Jan 2023, 10:23 by Robert Cowley   [ updated 12 Jan 2023, 11:24 ]

If your property is in an area at risk of flooding please ensure you take steps to mitigate risk to your property.  You can sign up for flood alerts via this link:

www.gov.uk/sign-up-for-flood-warnings

and monitor the river level in South Cerney via this link:

check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/station/7016

and the river level in Cerney Wick here:

The Parish Council does not keep stocks of sand or sand bags.  Sand bags would only 'filter' the water, or help to divert the flow.   They will not prevent water entering a property on their own.  If a "dam" is needed then plastic sheeting needs to be built into any sand bag structure.

Speed Awareness Bin Stickers

posted 12 Dec 2022, 14:49 by Robert Cowley   [ updated 12 Dec 2022, 14:58 ]

Gloucestershire County Council and the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner have provided the Parish Council with speed awareness bin stickers in various designs.  Messages include:  “20 is plenty”, “Check your speed”, Reduce speed now” and “Safe speed”.  The idea is that they will appear fortnightly as a reminder to motorists, but not be out permanently, which would likely lead to them being ignored over time.  If you would like any for your bins, please contact the Clerk.
